2013 Patriotic Show Remembered

The Homewood Patriot Marching Band was recently featured in an article on Marching.com.  The focus of the article was our patriotic show presented at the 2013 Tournament of Roses Bandfest.  Director of Bands and Fine Arts Chair; Ron Pence was asked to reflect on the inspiration for the show and memories from this very special chapter in the history of the Homewood Patriot Marching Band.  The article may be read on Marching.com

All-State Jazz Band

Homewood Patriot Band students are encouraged to audition for the Alabama All-State Jazz Band. Audition information is available on the Alabama Music Educators Association website.

Each year The NAMM Foundation and the University of Kansas honor the Best Communities for music education in the United States.  This marks the tenth time that Homewood has been selected for this prestigious honor in recognition for our commitment and support of music education.

Homewood Concert Bands Receive Highest Honors

Superior Ratings From All Judges

A special congratulations to our student musicians, band faculty and staff for their outstanding performances at the 2015 State Music Performance Assessment.  All three Homewood Concert Bands received Superior ratings for each judge. The Chamber Winds received highest honors earning a Superior with Distinction.  Well done and congratulations for this outstanding recognition.

We would also like to thank our many volunteers who have been assisting with the MPA.  We greatly appreciate your time, commitment and dedication to making the Homewood Patriot Band one of our nation's premiere band programs. 

Honors For Homewood Band Staff

Homewood High School is fortunate to have our area's largest and finest band staff.  These educators bring a rich wealth of music, marching and performance experience that allows the Patriot Band to remain one of the top music programs in the United States.  Recently several members of our staff were recognized for their extraordinary accomplishments.

Congratulations to our Assistant Band Director, Chris Cooper who was selected for the Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity.

Congratulations to John Bradley and Jim Duren who were inducted into the Alabama Music Educators Hall of Fame at the Alabama Music Educators State Convention.  This honor is in recognition of their outstanding accomplishment as music educators for over 40 years in the state of Alabama.

We are truly fortunate to have these outstanding men working with the Homewood Band.
